Paint enhancement and paint correction are professional machine polishing processes designed to restore clarity, depth and shine, dramatically improving the overall appearance of your vehicle.

While machine polishing can significantly improve the finish, it’s important to understand that detailing is about restoring and refining rather than repairing major damage. Deep scratches, stone chips and dents will usually require bodyshop repairs before they can be completely removed.

Even brand-new vehicles often benefit from paint enhancement. Many cars leave the dealership with light swirl marks and minor paint imperfections caused during transportation, preparation or routine washing.

Paint Enhancement

Paint enhancement is designed to improve the overall appearance of your vehicle by reducing light swirl marks, fine scratches and surface haze. Using professional machine polishing techniques, we refine the paintwork to restore gloss, clarity and depth, leaving your vehicle looking noticeably fresher and more vibrant.

Paint Correction

Paint correction is a more intensive process aimed at removing moderate to heavier paint defects. Using specialist compounds and polishing systems, we carefully level imperfections within the clear coat to restore the finish as safely as possible.

Compounding
A cutting compound is used to remove moderate paint defects, oxidation and deeper swirl marks. This stage restores clarity but can leave a slight haze, which is refined during the polishing stage.

Polishing
The paintwork is then refined using a finishing polish to maximise gloss, remove any remaining haze and produce a deep, mirror-like finish. This stage enhances the way light reflects from the paint, giving your vehicle exceptional depth and clarity.

Every vehicle is different, which is why we assess the condition of the paintwork before recommending the most suitable level of enhancement or correction. Our goal is always to achieve the best possible results while preserving the integrity of your vehicle’s clear coat.

Following machine polishing, we recommend protecting the freshly restored finish with a ceramic coating or high-quality paint sealant to maintain the results and make future maintenance easier.

Ceramic Coatings represent the highest level of paint protection available. They form a durable, semi-permanent protective layer that bonds with the paintwork, offering years of protection against environmental contaminants, UV rays and everyday wear. Ceramic coatings also deliver exceptional gloss, outstanding water repellency and make ongoing maintenance significantly easier.

Every vehicle we work on begins with a meticulous wash and decontamination process designed to clean safely while protecting your paintwork from unnecessary damage. Rather than rushing through the wash, we use professional detailing techniques and premium products to achieve the safest possible finish.

We start with a thorough pre-wash using a high-quality snow foam that softens and loosens dirt, road grime and other contaminants before any contact is made with the paintwork. This greatly reduces the risk of scratches and swirl marks during the contact wash stage.

The vehicle is then hand washed using premium pH-neutral shampoo and a soft microfibre wash mitt. To further minimise the risk of marring, we use the professional two-bucket wash method. One bucket contains clean shampoo, while the second is used solely for rinsing the wash mitt after each panel, preventing dirt and grit from being transferred back onto the paint.

To eliminate cross-contamination, the wheels and bodywork are cleaned separately using dedicated buckets, wash mitts and brushes. Brake dust and road debris are highly abrasive, so keeping these areas separate helps preserve the integrity of your vehicle’s finish.

Once the vehicle has been safely cleaned, we assess the paintwork for bonded contamination. Even after a thorough wash, contaminants such as iron fallout, brake dust, road tar, tree sap, water spots and industrial fallout can remain firmly attached to the paint. These contaminants leave the surface feeling rough, reduce gloss, interfere with protective coatings and, if left untreated, can contribute to the long-term deterioration of the paintwork.

To restore a perfectly clean surface, we carry out a comprehensive paint decontamination process.

Firstly, specialist chemical decontamination products safely dissolve iron fallout, tar and other bonded contaminants without harming the paintwork.

Where advised, this can followed by physical decontamination using a professional automotive clay bar to remove any remaining embedded contamination, leaving the paint exceptionally smooth and ready for further enhancement.

As clay barring can introduce very light surface marring, we recommend following the decontamination process with machine polishing. This refines the finish, restores maximum gloss and creates the ideal surface for applying ceramic coatings or long-lasting paint protection.

Finally, the vehicle is carefully dried using ultra-soft premium microfibre drying towels. Unlike traditional chamois leathers, bath towels or water blades, these specialist towels safely absorb water without scratching or damaging the clear coat, ensuring your vehicle is left with a flawless, streak-free finish.

These surfaces are cleaned using ultra-soft detailing brushes and premium microfibre cloths, allowing us to safely remove dust and dirt without scratching or marking the finish.

Areas such as carpets, floor mats, pedals, door shuts and textured plastics often collect stubborn dirt that requires a more intensive approach. For these areas, we use specialist brushes, professional cleaning products and steam cleaning where appropriate to safely lift embedded dirt, stains and grime. By selecting the right tools for every surface, we achieve a deep, comprehensive clean while preserving the condition of your vehicle’s interior.

Preventing Cross-Contamination

A key part of our detailing process is preventing cross-contamination. Unlike quick hoovers or mini valets, where the same cloths and brushes may be used throughout the vehicle, we use dedicated microfibre cloths and detailing brushes for different areas of the interior.

For example, the cloths used to clean heavily soiled areas such as pedals, door shuts or footwells are never used on delicate surfaces like touchscreens, gloss trims or leather upholstery. Likewise, different brushes are used depending on the material and level of soiling.

This careful approach prevents dirt, grit and bacteria from being transferred between surfaces, reducing the risk of scratches, smearing and damage while ensuring every area of your vehicle is cleaned to the highest possible standard.
